In partnership with the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise, and Public Policy at Vanderbilt University, Nashville-based chamber ensemble chatterbird presents An Opening Goodbye, a collaborative performance featuring the music of Vanderbilt faculty composers Molly Herron, Stan Link, Michael Alec Rose, and Michael Slayton.
As crises around the world continue to feel more overwhelming by the day, how can we find new ways to engage around topics that often leave us with more questions than answers? Through an innovative partnership with the Curb Center, chatterbird explores perspective through the musical lenses of four unique minds. The compositions examine themes of crisis and conflict surrounding subjects ranging from climate change and fascism to the concept of art’s role in the modern world. Vanderbilt University scholars and community members will be on hand to discuss the topics further.
